Foundations of Engineering & Design Thinking
Little Inventors is a hands-on engineering lab designed specifically for young learners ready to build more than just projects — they’re building thinking skills.
Each week, students explore a foundational STEM concept such as stability, force, motion, simple machines, balance, and structural strength. Through guided mini-lessons and real design challenges, children learn how engineers think: plan, build, test, improve.
Using accessible materials like cardboard, connectors, wheels, ramps, and building tools, students create working prototypes while practicing:
• Critical thinking
• Problem-solving
• Design planning
• Testing and iteration
• Cause-and-effect reasoning
• Resilience and revision
This is not free-build time.
Every class includes direct instruction, a focused engineering challenge, and a structured improvement phase so students experience the full design process.
Students bring home multiple working builds throughout the session along with their personal Inventor Notebook documenting ideas, sketches, test results, and improvements.
Little Inventors builds confidence, creativity, and the foundational engineering mindset that supports future success in STEM learning.
8 weeks | Small class size | Materials included
